What does a reverse BAC water calculator do?

A normal reconstitution calculator starts with the liquid volume and calculates how many syringe units correspond to an entered amount. This tool reverses that relationship: you choose the syringe-unit target first, and the calculator determines the liquid volume required by the math.

Reverse BAC water formula

The calculator first converts the target U-100 units into liquid volume. Because 100 U-100 units equals 1mL, a 5-unit target is 0.05mL, a 10-unit target is 0.1mL, and a 25-unit target is 0.25mL.

Liquid volume = (target units ÷ 100) × (vial amount ÷ entered amount)

Mass units are normalized before the calculation, so mg and mcg can be used together. IU is kept separate from mass units.

Example reverse calculation

As a math example, suppose a vial contains 10mg and the entered amount is 250mcg. If the target is 5 U-100 units, the target liquid volume is 0.05mL. Converting 10mg to 10,000mcg and solving the ratio produces a total liquid volume of 2mL.

No. It returns a mathematical result based on the values entered. The result is not a preparation recommendation, dosing recommendation, or medical instruction.

Can I use mg and mcg together?

Yes. Milligrams and micrograms are both units of mass, so the calculator converts them to a common basis before doing the math.

Can IU be converted to mg or mcg?

Not automatically. IU measures biological activity and does not have a universal conversion to mass. The reverse calculator therefore requires IU on both fields when using IU-based math.
