Kisspeptin-10 / Kisspeptin-54 / KISS1R Agonist
Kisspeptin is a family of naturally occurring reproductive neuropeptides that stimulate the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis primarily by activating KISS1R and promoting endogenous GnRH signaling. Human studies show clear effects on LH and FSH release, and kisspeptin-54 has been studied as an investigational trigger for oocyte maturation in IVF. Kisspeptin products sold online are not FDA-approved therapies, and FDA has identified safety and characterization concerns for compounded kisspeptin-10.

WADA context

Kisspeptin-54 has been studied as an investigational trigger for oocyte maturation during IVF, and kisspeptin-10 has controlled human physiology data including a 2026 chronic-administration study in healthy men.
Human biology evidence
Multiple controlled human studies show that kisspeptin can stimulate LH and FSH secretion, with responses varying by sex, reproductive state, isoform, and administration pattern.
Key takeaway
Kisspeptin has real human reproductive-endocrinology evidence, but it remains investigational and should not be treated as an approved testosterone or fertility peptide.

Kisspeptin Reconstitution Math
Reconstitution math starts with the amount contained in the vial and the liquid volume used in the calculation. Dividing the vial amount by the liquid volume gives the resulting concentration.
Example vial amount
1 mg
| Liquid Volume | Calculation | Concentration |
|---|---|---|
| 1 mL | 1 mg ÷ 1 mL | 1 mg/mL |
| 2 mL | 1 mg ÷ 2 mL | 0.5 mg/mL |
| 3 mL | 1 mg ÷ 3 mL | 0.3333 mg/mL |
This table demonstrates concentration math only. The liquid volumes shown are examples for comparison and are not preparation recommendations.

What is kisspeptin?
Kisspeptins are peptide products of the KISS1 gene. They bind the KISS1 receptor, also called GPR54, and are major upstream regulators of reproductive hormone signaling. In humans, kisspeptin signaling helps control GnRH release from the hypothalamus, which in turn drives pituitary secretion of luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH).
Kisspeptin-10 vs kisspeptin-54
Kisspeptin-10 and kisspeptin-54 are related members of the same peptide family rather than interchangeable formulations. Both can stimulate reproductive hormone release in human studies, but their pharmacokinetics, duration of action, and study designs differ. Research findings for one isoform should not automatically be applied to every product labeled simply as 'kisspeptin.'
What does kisspeptin do to LH and FSH?
Controlled human physiology studies show that kisspeptin can increase gonadotropin secretion. In healthy men, kisspeptin-10 increased LH and FSH, and direct comparison studies found that GnRH produced a larger gonadotropin response than kisspeptin at the tested intravenous doses. Responses in women vary with reproductive state and cycle phase.
Kisspeptin and IVF research
Kisspeptin-54 has been investigated as a trigger for final oocyte maturation during IVF. Early clinical studies showed that it could induce an LH surge, oocyte maturation, fertilization, and pregnancy in studied populations. These investigational findings do not make kisspeptin an FDA-approved fertility treatment.
Does kisspeptin stop working with repeated exposure?
The answer depends on the isoform and administration pattern. Earlier work found tachyphylaxis with repeated kisspeptin-54 exposure in women with hypothalamic amenorrhea, while a 2026 controlled study in healthy men found that intermittent subcutaneous kisspeptin-10 infusions could sustain gonadotropin stimulation over 12 days. These findings show why schedule-specific research should not be simplified into a universal claim.
Is kisspeptin FDA-approved?
No kisspeptin drug is FDA-approved for fertility, testosterone support, hormone restoration, or general wellness. FDA lists kisspeptin-10 among bulk substances that raise significant safety concerns for compounding, citing potential immunogenicity, peptide-related impurities, API-characterization complexity, and limited safety information for proposed routes of administration.
Kisspeptin vs gonadorelin
Kisspeptin acts upstream of endogenous GnRH signaling, while gonadorelin is synthetic GnRH itself and directly stimulates pituitary GnRH receptors. Human comparison data support this mechanistic distinction: both can increase gonadotropins, but GnRH was more potent at the doses tested in one controlled study. BACToBasics provides a dedicated side-by-side comparison rather than treating them as interchangeable.
Anti-doping status
The 2026 WADA Prohibited List names kisspeptin and its agonist analogues under S2.2.1 testosterone-stimulating peptides in males. Competitive athletes should verify current rules with the applicable anti-doping authority because prohibited-list wording can change.

Kisspeptin FAQ
Tap a question to expand only the answer you want to read.
Is kisspeptin the same as GnRH?
No. Kisspeptin acts upstream and promotes endogenous GnRH signaling, while gonadorelin is synthetic GnRH itself.
Does kisspeptin increase LH?
Yes. Multiple human studies have shown increases in LH after kisspeptin administration, although the magnitude depends on sex, reproductive state, isoform, and study design.
Does kisspeptin increase testosterone?
In men, kisspeptin can stimulate the reproductive axis and has increased LH and testosterone in controlled research. That does not establish an approved testosterone-treatment protocol.
Is kisspeptin FDA-approved?
No. Kisspeptin is not FDA-approved as a fertility, testosterone, hormone-restoration, or wellness drug.
Has kisspeptin been studied in IVF?
Yes. Kisspeptin-54 has been studied as an investigational trigger for oocyte maturation in women undergoing IVF.
Is kisspeptin prohibited by WADA?
The 2026 WADA Prohibited List explicitly names kisspeptin and its agonist analogues under S2.2.1 for male athletes.
Can BACToBasics calculate kisspeptin vial math?
Yes. The calculator performs generic concentration, mL, and U-100 syringe-unit math from user-entered labeled values without recommending a dose or protocol.
